If you live in Great or Little Wilbraham or Six Mile Bottom and you love to cycle either as a commuter or for pleasure, there is currently no safe way to connect with the Cambridge Cycle Network.

Central Cambridge is only 6 miles as the crow flies from the Wilbrahams but the three ways a cyclist can get there or any other location involve 60mph roads that carry significant, fast traffic

We will be working with the two local Parish Councils and their respective residents to seek feedback on a proposal to join the Cambridge Cycle Network. To start the conversation here are a few ideas.

Idea One

Adapt the Wilbraham Road out of Little Wilbraham to Bottisham which would join the A1303 - Newmarket Road and then on to join the Cambridge Cycle Network at Bottisham.

Idea Two

Construct a dedicated cycle path from Great Wilbraham to Fulbourne along the Station / Wilbraham Road.

Idea Three

Look at establishing a cycle path from Little Wilbraham to the Quy roundabout via the Short Drove.

A complete description of the three ideas can be found under the Options link.

The Proposal

This website has been established to work towards providing safer cycling options for the Wilbrahams.
We have:
-
an ongoing survey of village residents (use the link to the left to take the survey)
-
a team has been established to progress the proposals
-
the development of a plan in collaboration with the appropriate authorities, to achieve these goals.
